Man dead after police-involved shooting in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — One person is dead after a shooting involving a Buffalo police officer, police said Wednesday morning.

Police said the incident happened shortly after midnight near Kensington Avenue and Poultney Avenue. One person was transported to ECMC, where they were later pronounced dead.

Buffalo homicide detectives and the internal affairs division are currently conducting separate investigations, which is a departmental procedure.

Additionally, the New York State Attorney General’s office has been notified, as that office investigates all fatal shootings involving police officers.

This is the second fatal police-involved shooting in Buffalo this year. In February, officers shot and killed a man on Reed Street after he allegedly called 911 in revenge.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
