Men arrested after shooting and police chase in south Columbus

Police said the shooting was the result of a verbal argument.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two men were arrested following a shooting in south Columbus Tuesday night, police said.

Shortly after 11:10 p.m., officers from the Columbus Division of Police were called to an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Watermill Street, west of South High Street, for a reported shooting.

Police learned that the shooting victim checked himself into the hospital. He was shot in the lower body and is expected to survive his injuries.

When officers arrived at the scene, they saw the suspect’s vehicle leaving the apartment complex. A chase began that lasted several minutes.

According to police, the vehicle eventually stopped to comply with a traffic check.

The driver, 34-year-old Christopher Moore, was arrested and charged with failure to comply with orders for fleeing from police. The passenger, 30-year-old Diquan Moore, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault as he is accused of being the shooter.

Police said the shooting was the result of a verbal argument.
