Man found dead in New Albany home; woman charged with murder

When police conducted a welfare check in a private home on Tuesday evening, they found a 68-year-old man lying dead on the floor.

NEW ALBANY, Indiana – Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a southern Indiana home Tuesday night.

At around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call from a woman in the parking lot of a Walmart, according to Sergeant Carey Huls of the Indiana State Police.

Investigators concluded that a welfare check was necessary at a home on East 11th Street in New Albany.

Inside the home, New Albany officers found a 68-year-old man lying dead on the floor with signs of traumatic brain injury, Sergeant Huls said.

The woman from the original 911 call who was taken to the hospital was arrested and taken to the Floyd County Jail and charged with murder.

As of Wednesday morning, police had not released any information about the woman’s relationship to the victim. Both New Albany Police and Indiana State Police are investigating the case.
