Pressed Roots, a Dallas-based silk bar, is expanding to Houston

When Pressed Roots founder Piersten Gaines developed the concept for her luxury silk bar, she did so with future customers in mind. But not just any client, those with textured hair who have struggled to find a stylist to properly treat and maintain healthy hair.

Gaines opened the first Pressed Roots in 2020. This year, she added a fourth salon to her professional catalog with the opening of a location in Houston on May 9.

“Pressed Roots transforms the salon experience with a commitment to saving clients time, money and effort, tailoring each appointment to the client’s needs through in-depth expertise and training programs “, says a press release.

To fill a gap in the market, Gaines launched Pressed Roots in Dallas in 2020. The new business venture brought clients from all over the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan complex seeking not only trained and specialized hair stylists healthy people, but also members of the community. . The company eventually expanded to locations in Arlington and Plano two years later.

“As the brand has grown over the years, it has gained notable support from investors such as tennis champion and entrepreneur Naomi Osaka, former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz and the former CEO of Neiman Marcus, Karen Katz,” a press release said.

Gaines said when customers visit the physical store, they can expect the health of their hair to be a priority. Plus, clients in a hurry for their next appointment don’t have to worry about sitting in a chair all day since Gaines says the stylists provide services in less than an hour and a half.

“Our team of highly skilled stylists successfully completed Pressed Roots Boot Camp, where they perfected the art of the blowout,” Gaines said. “They know what’s right for every hair type. Yes, even yours. Not only does the Pressed Roots Blowout leave your hair healthy and happy, it also gets you out of the salon in one to two hours, every time. ”

The Houston location opened Thursday at the Post Oak Center. The 1,924 square foot space can accommodate up to 50 stylists. Pressed Roots’ services include the signature silk blowout in different styles such as silky straight curls, loose curls or beachy waves. Those interested in additional services or VIP stations for private experiences are available upon request. The salon will also offer products for sale to maintain hair between appointments.

“Hair is an important part of our culture, part of our roots,” Gaines said. “It’s not just about aesthetics, it’s a ritual. While the journey to healthy hair is unique to each person’s hair texture, it shouldn’t be difficult or awkward.”
