Man Driving Stolen Car Shot By Police Officer In West Atlanta, GBI Investigates

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a shooting involving a Fulton County sheriff’s deputy.

The shooting happened Tuesday night on Delmar Lane NW in Atlanta.

According to Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat, a deputy was chasing a car that had been stolen in Decatur.

The suspect has been identified as Travan Yarborough, 20.

The chase ended at 3200 Delmar Lane NW, when Yarborough crashed the car into a utility pole.

Yarborough got out of the car and pointed a gun at the deputy, who then shot him.

Yarborough then fled and hid behind a house on the street and was captured by deputies.

The sheriff’s department confirms that a passenger in the car was taken to the hospital by ambulance for observation.

Yarborough is alive and in custody.

His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

He will face several criminal charges.

The MP was not injured in the shooting.

Sheriff Labat said this is the second deputy-involved shooting this year at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.

The GBI is on scene and investigating.
