Atlanta Braves News: AJ Smith-Shawver Returns, Chris Sale Healthy, More

Before Tuesday night’s game in Phoenix, the Atlanta Braves announced they have reinstated right-hander AJ Smith-Shawver from the injured list. To make room on the active roster, the club sent right-hander Bryce Elder to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Smith-Shawver was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 24 with a left oblique strain he suffered in his season debut. He has since made one rehab start with the Emperors of Rome, pitching two innings, striking out four and allowing one run. For now, he will likely be used out of the bullpen.

Elder started Monday night’s game, pitching five innings and scoring three runs.
