Louisville man killed after car flips into river

PIKE COUNTY — A Louisville man died Thursday morning after his car struck a traffic sign and plunged into a river, according to ALEA Senior Trooper Kendra McKinney.

At approximately 6:55 a.m., the 200 Honda CR-V driven by James Otis McCray left Alabama 130, struck a traffic sign, overturned and entered a river.

McCray, 66, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred about six miles east of the city limits of Banks in Pike County.

Officers from ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division will continue the investigation.
