Two taken to emergency room after accident

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – Two people were taken to the local emergency room this afternoon following an entrapment accident in High Springs.

At approximately 2:53 p.m., crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) and High Springs Fire Department responded to a crash near the intersection of CR 236 and NW 227th Drive.

According to a press release from the ACFR, rescuers found a patient outside the vehicle and a trapped patient inside. Rescuers began treating the injuries of both patients and used rescue shears to extricate the trapped patient. The trapped patient was quickly extricated and both patients were transported to a local emergency room.

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated.
