Extreme heat for the rest of the week in Arizona

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – Dangerous heat continues throughout the Valley and state as we expect extreme heat to continue into First Alert Weather days.

Maximum temperatures at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport have already reached over 115 degrees, just one degree below the record high of 116 degrees set in 1958.

Due to high ozone levels, a pollution warning has been extended for the entire region until Wednesday.

Highs of 115 to 117 degrees are expected through the end of the week as high pressure slowly moves eastward toward the Four Corners region.

If this occurs around Friday and Saturday, the monsoon is likely to pick up again, leading to higher dew points and higher humidity levels.

It will be oppressively hot, but moisture should bring our temperatures down to below 40 degrees by Sunday.

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms over the weekend, with the greatest chance occurring in eastern and northern Arizona.
