According to Ecology, smoke from the Pioneer Fire on Lake Chelan and other wildfires in the region can raise particulate matter (PM2.5) pollution to levels that are harmful and unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Everyone is advised to limit time spent outdoors, avoid strenuous activities and follow tips for cleaner indoor air when air quality is unhealthy.

When air quality is unhealthy for sensitive groups, those groups should take steps to reduce exposure. These measures include limiting time spent outdoors, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities, and following tips for cleaner indoor air.

The agency says everyone should monitor for symptoms to reduce exposure.

According to Ecology, restrictions apply to agriculture and open-air burning.

The Chelan Douglas Health District posted the air quality warning on social media.

Air quality in Chelan was unhealthy for sensitive groups as of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The rest of Chelan and Douglas counties did not have unhealthy air at that time.
