Two people injured when shots fired at Manassas Mall spark panic, police say

Two people were wounded by gunfire in the parking lot of the Manassas Mall on Tuesday. The shooting was sparked by an argument but sparked panic at the mall over the possibility of a shooting spree, Prince William County police said.

The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. outside the mall in the 8300 block of Sudley Road “when an altercation occurred” between two groups, police said in a statement. The groups dispersed as gunshots rang out. Police said the two victims were hospitalized with injuries to their lower bodies, one from a bullet, the other apparently from a ricochet. Both are expected to survive.
