WJZ First Alert Weather Day Wednesday due to extreme heat

BALTIMORE – WJZ First Alert weather days continue through today and Wednesday as significant heat and humidity continue across the region. Afternoon highs will be between 35 and 42 degrees Celsius. Factoring in high dew points between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius, it will feel like 38 to 42 degrees Celsius across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, a heat advisory is in effect for Baltimore City until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. A heat advisory will remain in effect from noon until 8 p.m.

Be cautious if you plan to spend any time outdoors for any length of time. Temperatures will cool off a bit overnight, but not enough to provide much relief as humidity is high. Lows will drop to 25 to 30 degrees overnight, with temperatures not dropping below 27 degrees in some areas inside the Beltway.

Wednesday is expected to be another hot day, probably the worst of the week in terms of heat and humidity. A heat warning is in effect from midday to 8 p.m. Wednesday. It is not impossible that a heat warning will be issued for parts of the region, as heat index values ​​are likely to exceed 110 in some areas.

There is a chance of some showers and thunderstorms later on Wednesday as the last remnants of Beryl move through the region. Any rain that does occur will be very scattered so not everyone will experience a shower. Highs on Wednesday afternoon before the rain arrives will be between 35 and 40 degrees.

A front that has been in the area for a few days will move east of I-95 on Thursday, bringing us to the north side of the front. This will allow for a nice drop in humidity on Thursday with highs in the 90s to 100s Fahrenheit. Dew points will drop to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, making the heat more bearable.

The front will move north again on Friday as a low pressure system moves along it. This will bring widespread clouds and a good chance of showers and thunderstorms across the region, possibly the best rain chance in weeks. By Friday night, some areas could get nearly an inch of rain.

Due to cloud cover and rain showers, temperatures will remain low on Friday, with some areas failing to exceed the 25-degree mark and most areas reaching the 27-degree mark. The rain should move out in time for the weekend, and Saturday will see a mix of clouds and sunshine, and highs will be in the 35-39s. Most importantly, humidity will be low.

The heat will return with a vengeance on Sunday, with highs again in the 35-40s. Dew points should stay between 18-20 degrees, so the heat index will be around 38 degrees or less. The heat will continue on Monday, with highs around 38 degrees. It will stay hot until Tuesday, with highs around 35 degrees.

Lows at night will remain at 21 degrees despite lower dew points this weekend, but will rise to 25 to 25 degrees from next week. Showers and thunderstorms are expected on Monday, especially in the afternoon and evening. There is still a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday.
