Convoy commemorates trucker found dead in field

SAC COUNTY, Iowa – Truckers from across Iowa are being asked to participate in a convoy for a western Iowa trucker whose body was found in a field last month.

Mitchel Riesgraf, chairman of CDL Drivers Unlimited in Iowa, organized the event in memory of David Schultz, who disappeared in late November.

Truckers plan to drive a continuous loop along Highway 20 from Early to Rockwell City for five hours starting at 3 p.m. Friday, using the route Schultz last took. Riesgraf hopes Schultz’s family gets the answers they need.

The state says a preliminary autopsy determined there was no foul play in Schultz’s death. Schultz’s family says a second autopsy is planned after his funeral Friday morning in his hometown of Wall Lake.
