CEO and daughter die in bizarre accident caused by falling bulldozer

Richard David Hendrickson was driving along Utah’s Ogden Canyon when a serious, fatal accident occurred. The CEO of Lifetime Products was in the car with his daughter Sally, his wife and their two other children. According to a press release from the Utah Department of Public Safety, a tow truck with a bulldozer ultimately led to the deaths of Hendrickson and Sally.

“On Saturday, July 6, 2024, at approximately 12:49 p.m., a tow truck pulling a mini-dozer was traveling eastbound on SR-39 near mile marker 9. The vehicle was making a right turn when the dozer broke loose and slid off the driver’s side. A GMC pickup truck was traveling westbound towing a boat.

“The bulldozer landed on the GMC pickup truck. The adult male driver and a juvenile female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other adult passengers were transported with non-life threatening injuries. SR 39 was closed at both ends of Ogden Canyon for the accident investigation.”

A tribute to Hendrickson was posted on Lifetime Products’ website. “Richard was more than a company leader – he was also a visionary and a friend to many in our company and the wider community. He is known for his uniquely broad and comprehensive range of talents and interests. His mechanical talent is legendary and often surprises engineers throughout the company.”

“He also excelled in finance, management and sales. But most of all, he was a caring person, both at Lifetime and with his vendors and suppliers. His ability to treat others with respect, regardless of their position or rank in the supply chain, was truly special. His ability to connect with people combined all of his other talents in a very special way.”

Utah Governor Spencer Cox also expressed his condolences via his account X (formerly known as Twitter). “Richard was a friend and an incredible leader. His tragic death with his daughter Sally breaks our hearts. We mourn with his surviving family and pray that they find comfort and healing.”

Richard David Hendrickson was, by all accounts, a visionary and a model leader. Rest in peace, Richard and Sally.
