2 people arrested in connection with Birmingham murder in June

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WIAT) – Birmingham police announced the recent arrest of two men accused of a murder that occurred just over a month ago.

Derek Markel Bailey-King III, 23, and Fernandeiz Emillio Rapley Jr., 18, are charged with capital murder in connection with the death of Brandon DeAndre Wilson.


On June 1, Wilson was found shot to death in the 500 block of 41st Street North. The 31-year-old was taken to UAB Hospital and later pronounced dead.

On June 27, BPD investigators submitted information about the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, which issued arrest warrants for both men.

On July 3, Rapley Jr. was arrested at his home in Midfield. During the arrest, investigators found a Glock switch. On Monday, Bailey-King was arrested by the BPD and U.S. Marshals Service in the 100 block of New Avenue in Bessemer.

Both suspects are being held without bail in the Jefferson County Jail.
