71-year-old woman reported missing – found dead in Pompano Beach lake

POMPANO BEACH, Florida. – Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed Tuesday that a 71-year-old woman reported missing was found dead in a lake in Pompano Beach Monday evening.

On Monday around 6 p.m., Marie Jean-Marie was found in a lake on the south side of Sample Road in Pompano Beach and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.

Authorities said the cause of death will now be determined by the Broward County Coroner.

According to the BSO, there is currently no suspicion of third-party negligence.

A missing person report was issued for Jean-Marie on Monday after she was last seen around 2:30 a.m. near the 1300 block of Southwest 11th Avenue in Deerfield Beach.

MPs said a death investigation was underway and no further details had been released.
