2 teenagers arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a chase and crash involving two minors, one of whom has a felony warrant out for his arrest.

On Monday, July 8, at 8:52 p.m., an OSP trooper attempted to stop a 2014 Hyundai Elantra traveling 91 mph in a 65 mph zone on I-70. The driver failed to stop, resulting in a chase.

The pursuit continued to I-75, Northwoods Boulevard, North Dixie Drive, back to I-75 and onto County Road 25A before ending.

The driver struck the median north of Exit 73 while attempting to avoid stop signs posted by Troy police. The officer pursuing him also struck the stop signs and made contact with the Hyundai as it came to a stop.

Two young people were taken away: the 15-year-old driver and the 13-year-old passenger. There was an arrest warrant for the younger youth for a crime.

Both juveniles were medically evaluated and detained at the Maimi County Juvenile Detention Center. The driver was detained, charges are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
