Former partner of Spandau Ballet ‘rapist’, 36, tells court they had ‘mutual’ but ’embarrassing’ sex and says allegations made by five women are ‘unbelievable’.

A former partner of Spandau Ballet “rapist” Ross Davidson described in court how they had “mutual” but “uncomfortable” sex at a house party and said the allegations of sexual offences and rape made against him by five women were “unbelievable”.

Ross Davidson, 36, wanted sex up to six times a night and forced himself on women who rejected him, it is said.

Jurors heard the Scot was “a bit of a sex symbol” after playing the lead role in the West End musical We Will Rock You about a decade ago.

Aberdeen-born Davidson became lead singer of the Spandau Ballet in 2018 and was best known to his fans as Ross Wild, the judges learned.

As the Crown Court in Wood Green heard, he filmed himself groping sleeping women and role-playing rape scenarios.

Ross Davidson, 36, is accused of a series of sexual offences against five women and is said to have raped three of them, it is said

He is accused of a series of sexual crimes against five women, three of whom he is said to have raped.

The crimes are said to have occurred over a period of ten years between 2013 and 2023.

According to the jury, when questioned by police, Davidson claimed that “everything was consensual between him and the women in question.”

Davidson called a filmmaker as a defense witness today (Tuesday) and she confirmed that she has known him since late 2018 or early 2019.

The woman, whose name has been requested to remain anonymous, said they worked together on creative projects after being charged with sexual offenses.

“He could no longer work as an actor. It was very hard for him emotionally.”

“I really enjoyed working with him. He was entertaining. There was never a dull moment. He picked up a guitar and started playing. Time flies, it’s never boring.”

Spandau Ballet singer Ross Davidson will leave Wood Green Court on 12 June 2024

She said they would attend events together and Davidson would “attract the attention of women,” but he was not always happy with that.

She told the court that Davidson always had a “nice, pleasant demeanor.”

When asked if he had any bad qualities, the defense witness told the court: “He was always late, mainly because of his attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and partly because he suffers from anxiety attacks.”

She confirmed that she once had sex with Davidson in a guest room at a house party in the fall of 2019.

Defense attorney Charlotte Newell of Kentucky asked the witness about the encounter, and she told jurors, “He went up to the roof to have a smoke… then he came back into the room, and we were intimate.”

She said there was no filming or “role playing”, adding: “It was mutual. It was very awkward. It was a house party and people were running around, so it fell apart.”

When asked about the allegations that five women had made against the musician, the woman said: “This is simply unbelievable. I have only ever seen him surrounded by women. He has always avoided it.”

When asked if Davidson had any bad qualities, the defense witness told the court: “He was always late, mainly because of his ADHD and partly because he has anxiety attacks.”

“From my personal experience, that doesn’t fit. That doesn’t suit me.”

The witness told the court she was present at Davidson’s home in Finchley on October 19, 2022, when police officers came to charge him.

She claimed that a female police officer “taunted” Davidson by taking a silk T-shirt out of his dresser and telling him he didn’t want to take it into the cell because it was expensive.

“The whole experience was pretty dehumanizing for Ross.”

Davidson, from Finchley, north London, denies three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, one count of voyeurism and one count of controlling behaviour.

At the conclusion of the criminal trial, the jury was instructed to acquit Davidson of the charge of intimidation in connection with one of the plaintiffs.

Davidson replaced Tony Hadley as lead singer of Spandau Ballet in 2018 after playing Elvis Presley alongside the band’s bassist Martin Kemp in the hit West End musical “Million Dollar Quartet”.

The process continues.
