Rajasthan News: Husband accused of intoxicating his wife and letting family members rape her for 20 years

A shocking incident was reported from Churu district of Rajasthan in which a married woman accused her husband of allegedly letting her father-in-law and brother-in-law rape her.

The police have registered a case against the accused husband and are investigating the matter. The incident became known on Saturday, May 4th.

The woman claimed her husband mixed intoxicant into her tea, forced her to drink it, and then had her raped, according to a report by NDTV Rajasthan. She also claimed that her husband threatened to slit her throat with a sharp weapon when she protested.

An initial information report was also filed in the case, naming eight people, including the woman’s father-in-law and brother-in-law, for alleged rape.

The police acted on the woman’s complaint and assured that strict action will be taken against the accused.

The married woman hails from a village in Sandwa police station area of ​​Churu district. She alleged that her husband had continuously fed her drugs and forced her to have physical relationships with other people for the past 15 to 20 years, police said.

She further claimed that her husband beat her brutally every time she refused.

In the FIR, the woman also stated that the accused threatened to kill her brother as her three children lived with him.

According to the annual report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), crimes against women increased sharply in India in 2022. A total of 445,256 cases were registered in the year alone, which is almost 51 FIRs per hour.

According to the NCRB data, the rate of crimes against women per lakh population was 66.4 while charges in such cases were 75.8.

Most crimes against women under the Indian Penal Code involved cruelty by the husband or his relatives (31.4 percent), followed by kidnapping and kidnapping of women (19.2 percent) and attacking women with intent to hurt their modesty (18.7 percent). ) and rape (7.1 percent), the NCRB said.
