SoHou, new Houston-themed sports bar, opens on Washington Avenue

SoHou is bringing the city of Houston its newest sports bar, an official said, designed to meet the needs of the city’s diverse community by combining the fusion of sports bar excitement with lounge chic.

The venue features photo areas, a 35-foot bar, 19 big-screen TVs, a VIP lounge with bottle service, billiards, cornhole and a DJ booth. The new bar will serve domestic and imported beers, wine as well as craft and specialty cocktails. The site will also be served by a daily rotation of local food trucks, according to a May 7 press release.

SoHou, a women-owned business, is led by Malak Maroun and Hamera Khan.

“We wanted to create a space where everyone feels like they belong, where laughter echoes off the walls and memories are made,” Maroun said in a statement. “SoHou is more than just a bar; it’s a community center that captures the essence of Houston, where all are welcome and friends come together to celebrate life and all it has to offer.”

The new sports lounge offers happy hour Tuesday through Friday. from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with specialized entertainment or theme evenings every day of the week.
