Genesee County man apparently dies in fireworks accident

A Genesee County man died on July 4 as a result of a firework injury.

According to Clayton Township police, the 32-year-old suffered a fatal head injury from a firework at around 9 p.m. in the 1200 block of Van Vleet Road. Investigators say it appears to have been an accident and drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor. The State of Michigan Fireworks Enforcement Division is assisting with the investigation.
