Oppressive heat and humidity continue; risk of thunderstorms towards the end of the working week

A heat warning is in effect for Nassau County and northwest Suffolk until 8 p.m., with perceived temperatures of 35 to 38 degrees.


According to Storm Watch Team meteorologist Rich Hoffman, it will be hot and very humid today, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms to end the work week.

TODAY: Before 8 a.m. there will be some fog in places. Otherwise partly sunny, maximum temperature around 30 degrees. Later in the day there is a chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms. Temperatures will feel between 35 and 38 degrees.



TONIGHT: Chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially before 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74.

WEDNESDAY: 40% chance of rain showers and thunderstorms, especially after 8am. Mostly cloudy, high temperature around 30°C.
