19-year-old woman arrested after fatal accident in north Phoenix, police say

PHOENIXA 19-year-old woman is accused of causing a fatal accident in northern Phoenix on Friday, July 5th.

Around 8:30 p.m. near Tatum Boulevard and Pinnacle Peak RoadAccording to Phoenix police, six people were injured in a two-car crash. 53-year-old Juliene Aumani succumbed to her injuries.

Police explained the incident as follows: “Preliminary information indicates that a Fiat vehicle driven by a 19-year-old female was traveling westbound on Pinnacle Peak Road when it left the road and struck some bushes and palo verde trees on the north side. The vehicle re-entered the road and crossed the center line where it collided with the second vehicle, a Toyota Corolla driven by a 31-year-old female and containing four other adult passengers, including the victim, Juliene.”

One of the Toyota’s occupants was seriously injured but is expected to survive. Police say the other three are in stable condition.

On July 8, the Fiat’s passenger, 19-year-old Madison Carey, was released from the hospital and arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and four counts of aggravated assault, according to police.

The impairment is being reviewed. No further information is available.
