Cyclists begin 400-mile journey along the Erie Canal from Buffalo to Albany

More than 500 cyclists are participating in the 26th annual Cycle the Erie Canal, which runs 400 miles from Buffalo to Albany. The cyclists passed through Genesee Valley Park on Monday, July 8, 2024, as they traveled from Medina to Fairport.

Participants, ages 2 to 85, explore historic communities along the canal and enjoy New York City’s summer climate.

Cyclists from 37 states are riding 40 to 60 miles daily and are expected to complete the tour by next Monday.
