Fireworks in Lakeport ends in boat accident, one person injured

On July 4, 2024, shortly after the fireworks display in Lakeport, a two-vessel collision occurred on Clear Lake at approximately 10:00 p.m. A 2019 Ranger bass boat, operated by a single person, was traveling east on Clear Lake when it collided with a 2017 Sun Tracker pontoon boat carrying eight passengers.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the pontoon boat was thrown into the water and subsequently transported by a rescue helicopter to an area outside the county. Hospital for treatment. The other seven occupants of the pontoon boat and the driver of the bass boat reported no injuries.

There is currently no suspicion that alcohol contributed to this accident. However, the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
