NFL ban for Pittsburgh Steelers player long

PITTSBURGH, PA — The NFL has suspended Steelers cornerback Cam Sutton without pay for the first eight games of the season for violating the league’s conduct rules.

Due to the penalty announced on Monday, Sutton will not be able to play for the Steelers until after the team’s game against the New York Giants on October 29.

The suspension came after a warrant was issued for his arrest in March following allegations of domestic violence. Sutton turned himself in to authorities and reportedly attended a preliminary hearing on assault charges.

The NFL investigated the case and concluded that he had violated the rules of conduct.

Sutton was expected to provide depth in the Steelers’ secondary this season. He was the team’s third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He left the Steelers after the 2022 season and signed with the Detroit Lions, but the Lions released him after the warrant was issued.

About two months later, he signed with the Steelers.
