Death in Screven County under investigation

The Screven County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating the death of a woman from a stab wound sustained Tuesday evening in her home in the Whitehill community, off Georgia Highway 21 south of Sylvania. Helen Elaine Neely, 47, died en route to medical care, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Screven County Sheriff’s and EMS officials had responded to a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. that a woman had suffered a single stab wound.
