Childhood friend responds to investigation into Pitt County double shooting

Pitt County officials are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday evening around 8 p.m. on South Glenwood Lane in Farmville.

Tiffany Holmes, a friend of one of the victims, said she was shocked when she heard about the shooting. “I really wish this situation could be undone,” she said. “I never thought something like this would happen to him.”

Tiffany grew up next door to one of the victims and shared fond memories of her childhood. “I met him when I was eight or nine years old. My family lives here, so he lived right next door. We grew up playing together,” she said.

The house where the shooting took place is on a quiet street with only a handful of homes.

Tiffany Holmes was not there when the shots were fired. “I got calls from my family letting me know what was going on,” she explained.

Investigators said no one else was involved in the shooting other than the two men found at the scene. Holmes described her neighbor as a kind-hearted person. “He was a giver, he was a great father, and this is a huge loss for his children. His children have to grow up without a father, and he always had one. He was always fun with everybody. You could call him about anything. So it’s going to be a really big loss.”

Investigators are withholding the names of the victims until their families can be notified. The investigation remains ongoing as officials gather more information.
