Leesburg police investigate murder case in which 20-year-old died

Leesburg police are investigating a fatal shooting that left a man dead Monday afternoon. Officers responded to a shooting in the 2200 block of Aitkin Loop in the Overlook at Lake Griffin neighborhood at 2:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds in the front yard of a residence. The victim, later identified as 20-year-old James Jordan, was subsequently transported to UF Health-Leesburg, where he was later pronounced dead. “Leesburg officers immediately established a perimeter and requested our canine unit,” a Leesburg police spokesperson said in a news release. “Leesburg detectives and CSI also responded and conducted the investigation on scene, including a search of surrounding residences.” The search for a suspect is ongoing. Leesburg Police ask that anyone with information about this case call 352-787-2121 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477) for a reward.
