CPS Energy to send crews to Houston to restore power

SAN ANTONIO – CPS Energy is sending several crews to Houston to assist with the power restoration process following Beryl’s impacts.

The company plans to relocate about 60 employees to Houston, including equipment operators, line crews, pole crews, fleet personnel, security crews and nurses.

Rudy D. Garza, president and CEO of CPS Energy, will deliver remarks Tuesday morning before the crews take off at 7 a.m.

Beryl’s impact was severe, leaving more than 2.2 million Houston residents without power, CenterPoint Energy said.

The Houston-based energy company said about 11,500 workers have been mobilized to help restore power to residents affected by the storm.

With Beryl’s relocation from Houston to East Texas, crews can identify and isolate damaged areas to restore power to residents in affected areas more quickly.

Some Houston residents have been advised that due to the extensive damage caused by Beryl, their power may not be restored for several days.
