2 dead, 4 injured in shooting in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE – Six people, including a child, were victims of a drive-by shooting in the city of Fort Lauderdale on Monday evening shortly before 8 p.m.

According to police, a woman died at the scene in the 700 block of NW 10th Terrace. Another man died at the hospital.

The four other people are said to be in stable condition and their injuries are not life-threatening.

What led to the shooting is currently unclear.

Fort Lauderdale police do not currently have anyone in custody, but tell us there is no threat to the public from a shooting spree.

Investigators are trying to find out why this happened.

“Preliminary information suggests this may have been a drive-by shooting and that this was an isolated incident,” said Casey Liening, spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. “We have not taken anyone into custody.”

“However, we know that there were witnesses to this incident,” Liening said.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Police are still gathering evidence and will be seeking information from anyone who witnessed the incident.

They are also asking the public for help.
