Atlanta thieves break through ceiling, destroy woman’s storage unit near Mercedes-Benz Stadium

A woman lost $15,000 after thieves broke through the roof of her storage unit on Whitehall Street, near Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and made off with much of her belongings.

Ashley Williams saw the chaos Sunday at the Cube Smart storage warehouse.

“When I came to check on Sunday, it was a little stuck. When I opened it up, I noticed it was all a mess,” Williams said.

She said the thieves cut through the fence above her apartment and stole several valuable items.

“Childhood memories, objects, I just noticed my high school diploma is gone, the old albums I collected are all gone,” she explained.

She said they also took her shoes, most of which came from a store she previously owned.

“I looked to the right because I have a room divider that blocks my store from my belongings and every shelf has been cleaned,” Williams explained.

“All the other sneakers were part of my personal collection that I’ve been collecting for years, so I can’t get them back,” she added.

She opened an investigation with Atlanta police. They confirmed they were investigating, but have not yet named any suspects or said whether the same person or people were behind other burglaries in the area.

The warehouse manager told FOX 5 Atlanta they were unable to comment on the incident.

“I just want to catch whoever did this. I may not get my stuff back. I’ve been looking at thrift stores ‘buy, sell, trade’ to see if they’re successful, but nothing,” Williams said. “So if I could just catch the person, that would give me peace of mind.”
