2 arrested after 4-year-old girl, man shot in Orlando neighborhood

ORLANDO, Fla. – A shooting in an Orlando neighborhood on Saturday afternoon left two people injured, according to the police department.

In a release, police said they responded to the shooting in the 700 block of South Oxalis Avenue around 12:18 pm

Upon arrival, they discovered a 45-year-old man with several gunshot wounds, and they found that a 4-year-old girl had also been struck in the shooting, the release shows.

Both of them were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries, police added. There were two other victims, although neither was struck by gunfire.

Since then, detectives announced they have identified two suspects: Yasmi Matamoras-Mendoza, 32, and Marvin Sanchez, 39.

While Sanchez was detained at the scene of the shooting, Matamoras-Mendoza fled to Louisiana, where she was located by the U.S. Marshals Service, the release says.

Now, Matamoras-Mendoza faces charges of robbery with a firearm, two counts of aggravated battery, four counts of attempted second-degree murder, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.

Meanwhile, Sanchez faces charges of tampering with physical evidence and two counts of accessory after the fact.

No additional information has been provided at this time, including the nature of the shooting or the two suspects’ roles in it.

However, detectives said the two suspects may have been involved in other robberies or shootings.
