3 dead in plane crash in North Carolina

Three people were killed in a plane crash on Monday in McDowell County, North Carolina.

The plane was spotted in the area of ​​Brackett Town Road near Vein Mountain Road, officials said.

“It is with deep sadness that we confirm the tragic loss of three lives in the downed aircraft,” McDowell County EMS said in a statement. “Our condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the victims of this devastating incident.”

They said the FAA is currently at the crash scene and the NTSB has been dispatched to lead the investigation.

Emergency crews are asking the public to avoid the area around Bracket Town Road so investigators can do their work.

According to McDowell County Emergency Services, the plane was en route from Tennessee to Rutherford County, North Carolina.

Emergency responders have set up a media gathering point at Macedonia Baptist Church (1371 Macedonia Church Road, corner of Vein Mountain Road) and will release additional information as it becomes available.
