Chatham County police chief withdraws application for job in Texas

Chatham County Police Chief Jeff Hadley on Monday withdrew his bid to lead the police force in Beaumont, Texas, a press release said.

According to a press release from the city of Beaumont, Hadley was named as a finalist for the police chief position last month.

Hadley, who has served as Chatham County police chief since December 2017, was appointed by County Manager Michael Kaigler in June to oversee the transition of the unincorporated area’s privately run fire departments to the newly formed Chatham County Fire Department. With Hadley retiring from day-to-day operations of the CCPD, Kaigler has appointed CCPD Deputy Chief Julie Tolbert as acting chief.
