Scattered storms and much-needed rain return – 104.5 WOKV

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team is monitoring isolated storms that will continue into the early evening. These storms are expected to develop again starting at noon through Tuesday afternoon.

Locally, very heavy rain will cause some nuisance flooding, with some areas expecting 1 to 2 inches or more of rainfall in a short period of time.

Daytime temperatures are seasonal and just over 30 degrees, but humidity is very high.

From Wednesday onwards, the storms will spread further before becoming stronger again towards the end of the week.

Beryl is now a tropical storm after making landfall as a Category 1 hurricane 80 miles south/southwest of Houston on the south coast of Texas. Flooding and tornadoes will continue well inland through East Texas, western Louisiana, Arkansas, and eventually into parts of the Ohio Valley. There will be no local impacts.

AT THE MOMENT: Isolated heavy storms with temperatures between 21 and 25 degrees Celsius.

THE TROPICS: Hurricane Beryl made landfall on the south coast of Texas, 80 miles south-southwest of Houston, around 4 a.m. today as a Category 1. Currently a tropical storm, moving fairly quickly inland over East Texas – continuing flooding, squalls and tornadoes.
