Autopsy results for Elberta teenager found dead – investigation ongoing: officials

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Preliminary autopsy results are in for an Elberta teenager whose body was found Friday. News 5 have learned.

According to the authorities, the results of the autopsy indicate drowning; foul play is not currently suspected.


Officials, however, say the investigation into the Death of Avery Picklea 17-year-old student and football player at Elberta High School, whose Body found in Perdido Key area after he was seen swimming in Palmetto Creek, continues.

Baldwin County investigators also released additional information about the circumstances of Pickle’s death:

  • Investigators believe Pickle disappeared after a Fourth of July party.
  • Investigators said the 20 other partygoers eventually noticed Pickle was missing and searched neighboring homes and businesses before calling police.
  • His body was found on Friday in 1.2 to 1.5 meters deep water after the group jumped into the water from a 10.5-meter-long sport fishing boat, according to investigators.
