BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – Attorneys for the family of Deaughn Willis, a man killed in 2022 after an East Baton Rouge sheriff’s deputy fired shots into an apartment while searching for a suspect, will speak at City Hall on Monday, July 8.

In January 2023, the family filed a federal lawsuit against the sheriff’s office and the lone deputy who shot Willis, Eno Guillot. A federal judge said the qualified immunity defense was not grounds to dismiss the case against the deputy.

Trinelle Willis and attorneys Christine Cane-Wyatt and Alex Washington plan to ask the Baton Rouge District Attorney to hold Guillot accountable and the Sheriff’s Office to fire him.

The press conference is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at Baton Rouge City Hall. Watch the live stream in the video player above.
