Covering Douglas County Coast:

An Idaho man died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday.

An Oregon State Police report said troopers were called to the crash on Highway 101 near mile marker 207 in the Gardiner area just after 1:30 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that a northbound motorcycle driven by 43-year-old Johnny Boles of Notus attempted to pass between two northbound vehicles occupying both the A and B lanes. Boles lost control of the motorcycle, which left the roadway. He was thrown into a guardrail.

Boles was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorway was not affected during the on-site investigation. The cause of the accident is attributed to unsafe overtaking.

OSP was assisted by Gardiner Fire, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon Department of Transportation.
