Hopkinsville man charged with vehicle theft

A Hopkinsville man has now been charged with receiving stolen goods after he was accused of dealing marijuana during a traffic stop on South Clay Street on Wednesday.

According to Hopkinsville police, 30-year-old Vontrae Lewis was stopped for disobeying a stop sign and was found to have 39 pounds of marijuana, a suspended or revoked driver’s license and drug paraphernalia.

Following his arrest on Wednesday, an investigation was launched into the vehicle he was driving. It was reportedly found to be a vehicle rented in Texas and that the VIN had been altered.

He was subsequently accused of receiving stolen goods and concealing the identity of a vending machine.
