“We thank them for their courage” – Rape Crisis Centre pays tribute to the “survivors” of raping taxi driver Raymond Shorten

Chief Executive Rachel Morrogh said the public now wants assurances from the government “that the security measures put in place to keep them safe are optimal, adequately resourced and working”.

Rachel Morrogh, CEO of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, has thanked women raped by Dublin taxi driver Raymond Shorten for coming forward, describing him as a “predator” who “raped young and vulnerable people who trusted him”.

Shorten (50), who was convicted last month of raping two young women in his taxi on two separate nights in 2022, was also convicted today of raping a seven-year-old girl 12 years ago.
