Worker killed in underground pipe incident in Port St. Lucie, police investigate

A worker was killed in an industrial accident Monday morning when he was pushed out of an underground pipe, police said.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) said officers and the St. Lucie County Fire Department were initially called to an industrial accident on SW Becker Road – between SW Village Parkway and Range Line Road – around 11 a.m.

After further investigation, police said a man was performing maintenance on an underground sewer pipe when he was suddenly pushed out of the pipe from below. The man was then pulled through an open street grate and came to rest on the street.
