Lenoir County Man Arrested for Sexual Assault of Teen – Neuse News

A Deep Run man was arrested on child abuse charges Wednesday after a months-long investigation by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office and the Lenoir County Department of Social Services.

An investigation into sexual assault allegations against Richard Lee Sparrow, 38, began Jan. 15 when LCSO deputies and investigators responded to complaints filed with the Lenoir County Magistrate’s Office. During the investigation, it was reported that Sparrow sexually harassed and assaulted a juvenile.

On Wednesday, Sparrow was arrested and charged:

• Indecent liberties with a child

• Statutory sexual offense involving a child under 15 years of age

• Statutory rape of a child under 15 years of age

• Crime of incest

Sparrow was taken to the Lenoir County Detention Center where he is being held under a secured bond.
