VSP investigates fatal accident that killed a 52-year-old man in Bedford County on Sunday

BEDFORD COUNTY, Virginia. – According to VSP, Virginia State Police are currently investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a 52-year-old man dead.

The accident occurred at 5:10 p.m. on Hardy Road, two-tenths of a mile south of Turner Branch Road in Bedford County, we were told.

A 2022 Honda Accord was traveling south on Hardy Road when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, VSP said.

The driver of the Honda was identified as 52-year-old Bryant Whitby of Moneta. We’re told Whitby was wearing a seatbelt and was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

The 18-year-old driver of the Chevrolet was wearing a seatbelt and was also taken to hospital for injuries sustained in the accident.
