Police in Rome ask public for help in shooting

ROME, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Rome Police are asking the public for information regarding a shooting incident on William Street on Friday, July 5.

On Friday, patrol officers were called to the 500 block of William Street around 11:00 a.m. During the investigation, officers discovered several shell casings and a residence damaged by gunfire. No one was injured by the shooting, according to Rome police.


Four suspects – an adult woman, a young woman and two young men – were identified and taken into custody during the investigation. According to police, the Criminal Investigation Department and the Forensic Department of the Rome Police have been assigned to the case and the investigation is ongoing. The Rome Police say this incident appears to be a targeted event.

Police are urging residents near the following blocks in the city to check their security cameras:

  • the 500 block of William Street,
  • the 500th block of North Jay Street and
  • the 600 block of West Thomas Street.
