Washington, DC police responded to reports of a shooting on Half Street Southeast Saturday evening and announced an arrest Sunday.

WASHINGTON – A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a shooting Saturday night near Nationals Park.

At approximately 9:20 p.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to a shooting report in the 1200 block of Half Street, southeast. When they arrived on scene, they found a man in an alley with gunshot wounds. He was conscious and breathing.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

On Sunday, the MPD announced that they had made an arrest in the case. Elonte Bookhardt, a 29-year-old from Southeast Asia, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and criminal damage.
