Speedway police investigate shooting that left 1 injured

SPEEDWAY, Indiana – Police in Speedway are investigating after one person was injured in a shooting at an apartment complex early Monday.

On July 8, at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers with the Speedway Police Department responded to a report of shots fired and went to the 2000 block of Runaway Bay Drive, near West 21st Street and Cunningham Road, where they discovered shell casings in the street and in homes that had been struck by gunfire.

One person injured in the shooting was described by a department spokesman as “stable” when transported to Eskenazi Hospital.

The police have not provided any information on whether one or more suspects have already been identified. However, the spokesman said there was “no immediate danger to the public” in connection with the incident.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
