Motorcyclist killed in crash in Davidson County

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

On Wednesday at approximately 4:27 p.m., state troopers responded to the scene of a motorcycle and van crash in the area of ​​the 500 block of Arnold Road.


Investigators say Jacob Alexander Denton, 27, of Lexington, was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson southbound on Arnold Road at a high rate of speed when he collided with a 2024 Mercedes van that was backing onto Arnold Road drove.

Denton was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The van driver was not injured.

Troopers say speed was “a significant factor” in the crash.

Witnesses at the scene told investigators that Denton allegedly drove past at a high rate of speed.
