Supermarket collects money for the daughter of a killed long-time employee

GONZALES – Lamendola’s Supermarket is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the family of Brenda Morris, a longtime employee who was killed in June.

Morris was shot and killed last month by her husband, Sean Morris. Brenda was a head cook in the supermarket’s deli department and worked there for more than 13 years.

The supermarket is raising money for Morris’ daughter, who is entering her senior year of high school. The money will go toward graduation and college expenses.

“At the beginning of the year we talked about Patricia graduating and Brenda’s last baby and she wants to do something big this year. We just want to make sure we fulfill Brenda’s wish for her daughter to have the best senior year ever,” said owner Daphne Lamendola.

The supermarket will be collecting donations at the checkouts until July 9. A dedication ceremony for Morris will take place on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
