2 policemen killed and 1 seriously injured in separate road accidents in Pune | Pune News

Two police officers were killed and another seriously injured in two separate accidents in Pune’s Bopodi and Pimple Saudagar districts within a four-hour period between Sunday night and the early hours of Monday morning.

According to Pune Police, 42-year-old constable Samadhan Koli was killed and 36-year-old Sanjog Shinde was critically injured and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Officials at Khadki police station said the accident occurred at Bopodi underpass around 1.30 am on Monday.

“The two policemen were on their night patrol when their motorcycle was hit by a vehicle near Bopodi underpass. Constable Koli succumbed to his injuries and Constable Shinde is in critical condition. We have launched an investigation to identify the vehicle and the driver,” said Girish Dighavkar, senior inspector of Khadki police station.

Police said they have identified the type of vehicle that struck the motorcycle and are now following up on some available license plate clues.

In the second accident, 48-year-old police constable Sachin Vishnu Mane was killed after his two-wheeler was hit by an unidentified vehicle in the Pimple Saudagar area at around 10.30 pm on Sunday.

“Constable Mane was currently posted as a driver with the CID. Initial information suggests that he was on his way home after visiting someone in the hospital. We are yet to identify the vehicle that hit his motorcycle,” said Mahesh Bansode, inspector of Sangvi police station.
